মূলভাব : বিদ্যা অমূল্য সম্পদ । তাকে লাভ করার জন্যে সবার মনে থাকে অব্যক্ত বাসনা । কিন্তু নিজের প্রচেষ্টা ছাড়া একে অর্জন করা মোটেই সম্ভব নয় । এতে অন্যের উপদেশ পাথেয় মাত্র । 

সম্প্রসারিত ভাব : সমস্যাসঙ্কুল পৃথিবীতে কোনো কিছু বিনা পরিশ্রমে লাভ করা যায় না । অর্থ - সম্পদ , প্রভাব - প্রতিপত্তি , নাম - যশ , শক্তি কোনো কিছুই মানুষ বিনা সাধনায় অর্জন করতে পারে না । এক্ষেত্রে শুধু নিজ প্রচেষ্টাই যথেষ্ট নয় , প্রয়োজন হয় অপরের সহযোগিতা এবং উপদেশ । অপরের উপদেশ , অনুপ্রেরণা ও সহযোগিতা ছাড়া সাফল্য লাভ খুবই কষ্টসাধ্য ব্যাপার । এটি চিরন্তন সত্য যে , সাধনা কীভাবে করতে হয় তা গুরুর মাধ্যমে শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করতে হয় । উপযুক্ত গুরুই হলেন সত্যিকারের মানুষ গড়ার কারিগর । শিষ্যকে পরিপূর্ণভাবে প্রকাশিত হওয়ার পথনির্দেশনা দেন গুরু । একে ফলপ্রসূ করতে হলে শিষ্যের নিজ প্রচেষ্টার প্রয়োজন হয় । ঐকান্তিক সাধনার বলেই মানুষ বিদ্যা - বুদ্ধি অর্জন করে নিজেকে পরিপূর্ণভাবে প্রকাশিত করে । গুরুর উপদেশকে পাথেয় করে আপন সাধনাবলে শিষ্য পৌঁছে যায় কাঙ্ক্ষিত লক্ষে বিদ্যার সাধনা শিষ্যকে নিজে অর্জন করতে হয় । গুরু উত্তরসাধক মাত্র ।

গুরু হলেন পথের দিশারী আর শিষ্য হলো আলোর অভিযাত্রী । গুরুর উপদেশ এবং অন্যের দৃষ্টান্ত অনুসরণ না করে কোনো কাজ কারো পক্ষে সঠিকভাবে সমাধা করা সম্ভব নয় । এমন ভূরি ভূরি প্রমাণ মেলে যারা গুরুর উপদেশকে পাথেয় করে নিজ সাধনার বলে পৃথিবীতে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়ে দেশ ও জাতি এমনকি সমগ্র বিশ্বের কল্যাণ সাধন করে গেছেন । সক্রেটিস , প্লেটো ও এরিস্টটলের কথা এখানে বিশেষভাবে স্মরণ করা যায় । গুরু সক্রেটিসের উপদেশ গ্রহণ করে প্লেটো এবং প্লেটোর উপদেশকে পাথেয় করে এরিস্টটল পৃথিবীখ্যাত হয়ে যুগ যুগ ধরে স্মরণীয় ও বরণীয় হয়ে আছেন ।

মন্তব্য : সঠিক পথের নির্দেশনা দেওয়াই উত্তরসাধকের মূল কাজ , আর শিষ্যকে নিজ সাধনাবলে উদ্দিষ্ট লক্ষে পৌঁছতে হয় বিদ্যার সাধনা শিষ্যকে নিজে অর্জন করতে হয় । গুরু উত্তরসাধক মাত্র ।

The pursuit of knowledge is to be achieved by the disciple himself.  Guru is the only successor.

Off-topic: Knowledge is an invaluable resource.  Everyone remembers the unspoken desire to gain him.  But it is not possible to achieve this without one's own efforts.  The advice of others is just patheya. 

Expanded Thought: In a troubled world, nothing can be gained without hard work.  Money - wealth, influence - prestige, name - fame, power - nothing can be achieved without human pursuit.  In this case, one's own efforts are not enough, the cooperation and advice of others is needed.  It is very difficult to succeed without the advice, inspiration and cooperation of others.  It is an eternal truth that how to do sadhana is to be learned through a guru.  The right guru is the real man-builder.  The Guru instructs the disciple to be fully revealed.  To make it fruitful requires the disciple's own efforts.  Man acquires knowledge and intellect and manifests himself fully by means of diligent pursuit.  By following the guru's advice, the disciple reaches the desired goal by his own efforts.  The Guru is the guide of the path and the disciple is the explorer of light.  It is not possible for anyone to perform any task properly without following the advice of the guru and the example of others.  There is ample evidence that those who have followed the Guru's advice have been established in the world for their own good and have done good to the country and the nation and even the whole world.  Socrates, Plato and Aristotle are particularly remembered here.  Following the advice of the guru Socrates and following the advice of Plato and Plato, Aristotle became world famous and has been remembered and admired for ages. 

Comment: The main task of the successor is to guide the right path, and the disciple has to reach the goal by his own efforts.
