সম্প্রসারিত ভাব : পৃথিবীতে সুন্দরভাবে বাস করতে হলে প্রত্যেকেরই ইচ্ছায় হোক আর অনিচ্ছায়ই হোক একে অন্যের সাথে একটা সম্পর্ক গড়ে ওঠে । সে সম্পর্কটি হয় প্রেম - প্রীতি আর ভালোবাসার । এর সাথে থাকে না কোনো রক্তের সম্পর্ক । যেকোনো মুহূর্তে আত্মীয়তার সম্পর্ক ছিন্ন করতে কোনো দ্বিধা নেই যার , সে কেমন করে অনাত্মীয়ের সাথে সম্বন্ধ গড়ে তোলে , তাকে কখন আপন করে নেয় তা সে নিজেও জানে না । এ ধরনের সম্পর্ককে আমরা মিত্রতা বলে থাকি । কিন্তু এই মিত্রতা যত সহজে গড়ে ওঠে তা দীর্ঘদিন টিকিয়ে রাখা তত সহজ নয় মিত্রত্ব সর্বত্রই সুলভ , মিত্রত্ব রক্ষা করাই কঠিন  । কারণ উভয়ের মন - মানসিকতার মিল না হলে , কিংবা সম্পর্কের মধ্যে কোনোরূপ স্বার্থপরতা দেখা দিলে সে সম্পর্ক রক্ষা করা খুবই কঠিন হয়ে পড়ে । দীর্ঘদিনের সম্পর্ক ভঙ্গুর কাচের মতোই মুহূর্তের মধ্যে ভেঙে খান খান হয়ে যায় ।

এজন্যেই বলা হয়- মিত্রতা গড়া যত সহজ তা টিকিয়ে রাখা তত সহজ নয় । সমাজে বসবাস করতে হলে একে অন্যের সহযোগিতার একান্ত প্রয়োজন । অপরের সহযোগিতা ছাড়া কারো পক্ষেই জগতে বাস করা সম্ভব নয় । কিন্তু সেই সহযোগিতার পেছনে কোনো হীনস্বার্থ লুকিয়ে থাক , তা কেউ কখনো কামনা করে না । কাজেই মিত্রতা শুধু গড়লেই সব হয়ে যায় না , তা টিকিয়ে রাখার জন্যে উভয়ের যেকোনো স্বার্থ ত্যাগ করে , নিঃস্বার্থভাবে সহযোগিতার হাত সম্প্রসারিত করা একান্ত প্রয়োজন ।

মন্তব্য : মানুষের চলার পথে রয়েছে নানা প্রতিকূল অবস্থা । এগুলো মোকাবিলা করার জন্য একে অপরের মিত্রতা থাকা প্রয়োজন মিত্রত্ব সর্বত্রই সুলভ , মিত্রত্ব রক্ষা করাই কঠিন ।
